Conceived by Prof. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director at Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), IEM Research Foundation intends to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and societal benefit. Serving as a dynamic ecosystem, it supports startups by helping them turn their visionary ideas into successful, high-impact businesses. IEMRF also collaborates with different government and private agencies to strategically leverage their expertise and resources in implementing emerging entrepreneurial development initiatives.IEMRF partners with corporate entities to foster innovation and entrepreneurship across states. IEMRF provides startups and innovators with holistic support services. This includes mentorship from IEM alumni, faculty and seasoned entrepreneurs offering critical guidance on business strategy and technology commercialization.

Chrysalis is an early-stage innovation initiative focused on developing AI- and electronics-based conference souvenirs for IEM and UEM conferences. The project explores how technology, sustainability, and thoughtful design can transform traditional academic souvenirs into interactive and meaningful artifacts. Each product is designed to be: - **Affordable** – priced between ₹200 and ₹2000 - **Meaningful** – symbolic and experiential - **Scalable** – suitable for large academic events Currently, five prototype products are being developed. True to its name, Chrysalis represents the beginning phase of transformation. The initiative enables students to learn: - Product design - Hardware prototyping - Embedded systems development - Startup creation and commercialization The project guides students from idea conception to deployable real-world products.
