Who We Are
IEM Research Foundation (IEMRF), the first academic institute-based research foundation in Eastern India, is a Section 8 not for profit company founded by IEM Trust. Conceived by Prof. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director at Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), IEM Research Foundation intends to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and societal benefit.
Serving as a dynamic ecosystem, it supports startups by helping them turn their visionary ideas into successful, high-impact businesses. IEMRF also collaborates with different government and private agencies to strategically leverage their expertise and resources in implementing emerging entrepreneurial development initiatives.IEMRF partners with corporate entities to foster innovation and entrepreneurship across states. IEMRF provides startups and innovators with holistic support services. This includes mentorship from IEM alumni, faculty and seasoned entrepreneurs offering critical guidance on business strategy and technology commercialization.

Prof. (Dr.) Satyajit (Alex) Chakrabarti
CEO
Professor, Technologist, Serial Entrepreneur and Venture Capitalist. PhD in Nanotechnology from the National Institute of Technology and Masters in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia. Prof. Chakrabarti is a passionate researcher with over 100 publications in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, IOT and Data Science and over 20 patents filed in various fields of Technology. He is a mentor and teacher to thousands of students across the globe.
Prof. (Dr.) Amit Kumar Das
CTO
Industry Consultant, Academician, Researcher and Author practicing in the area of Data Science for the past 25 years. He is Professor and Dean (Industry Consultancy) at IEM. In his last role, he was the Principal Director of LTIMindtree, Where he was the Competency Development Partner in the Digital Engineering Practice. He has also worked at Cognizant Technology Solutions for more than a decade and at TCS. Holds Ph.D. degree from the University of Calcutta in Machine Learning and M. Tech. from BITS Pilani.
Biswajit Chaki
Head of Engineering Solutions
35 years in IT, specializing in Technology Consulting, Solution Architecture, and Program Management. Led global mission-critical projects across various industries globally, driving programs through cutting-edge technology domains such as Telecom, manufacturing, Finance etc. in the technology platform - AI, BI Analytics & DWH, Data Science, Cloud Computing, IoT & Automation etc. In the past worked at Ericsson Global and Tech Mahindra for more than two decades, delivered large-scale transformation projects. Holds Master's degree in Computer Science and an MBA.
Prof. (Dr.) Subhabrata Banerjee
Head of R&D
Academician, Researcher, and Author. Professor and Coordinator of Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) at IEM, Kolkata. Over 15 years of teaching experience and expertise in Evolutionary Algorithm, IoT and Error Control Coding published in international journals and conferences, including Springer, Wiley, and IET (UK). A senior member of IEEE, Robotics and Automation Society.
Chirabrata Majumder
Head of Management Solutions
Professor of Practice in the Department of Management at IEM Kolkata. Seasoned Industry professional in the field of business management and human resources, with a strong focus on Consulting in the areas of Leadership development, HR strategy, Organization Behaviour, Organization Change and Development. Over 25 years of Industry experience and passionate about education, actively contributing to the development of learning ecosystems and professional training.
